5 Top Sub Compact Tractor Brands

Need a sub compact tractor for those smaller farm chores? It can be difficult choosing the right one, there are so many different types out there!

So how do you know which one to go for? Some buyers have their favourite colours, others rely on specs… so we’ve made it easy by listing our most popular sub compact tractor brands in the market, based on number of listings, Machines4U search volume and (of course) general brand awareness.

Taking it a step further than our Top 3 Tractor Brands Under 100HP, we’re focusing this time on sub-compact tractors. While OEMs have their own definition of ‘sub compact’, we’re sticking to tractors between 25 and 40 HP in this instance.

So, without further ado, let’s take a look at which brands made it to our top 5 for the sub compact tractor type.

Top Sub Compact Tractor Brands:

  1. John Deere
  2. Kubota
  3. Massey Ferguson
  4. Mahindra
  5. TYM

1. John Deere

It’s not really a surprise that John Deere comes in first place on our list. Not only the most searched on our website, they also win hands-down when it comes to brand awareness. Their sub compact tractors, like the 1025R (pictured), have plenty of optional attachments and are ideal for many smaller farm chores such as:

  • Mowing turf
  • Digging
  • Moving dirt

2. Kubota

Nipping at John Deere’s heels is Kubota’s range of sub compact tractors. With a huge chunk of Machines4U search traffic and high brand awareness to boot, it’s easy to see why they come in second place on our list. Kubota’s BX (pictured) and B Series are a great choice for those who require a little more oomph for their daily chores. Within these series you’ll find a couple of tractors can be equipped with a backhoe and loader front attachment. Meaning these little tractors just got a whole lot more versatile:

  • Mowing
  • Landscaping
  • Light utility work
  • Digging
  • Moving dirt

3. Massey Ferguson

While Massey Ferguson doesn’t have as many current listings for sub compact tractors as the others in this list, their sheer search volume and brand awareness boost them to third place. For Massey, the MF GC Series is their closest sub compact tractor, with their next range hitting well over 40 HP and into the next bracket.

The MF GC series features optional front-end loader, mower and backhoe attachments for ultimate versatility on your farm, hobby farm or acreage property.

4. Mahindra

Next up is Mahindra. While they mainly concentrate on the 100 HP market, Mahindra does have a few sub compact tractors to throw into the mix. Depending on what you’re looking for, Mahindra has a few lower HP tractors that are suitable for those smaller chores. Their Max36 is 36 HP and offers a larger bucket size for those bigger jobs. Or, if you’re after something a little smaller, their Max28 is a great option—ideal for 5-20 acre plots, it’s good for smaller or hobby farm duties.

5. TYM

And rounding out our list for sub compact tractor brands is TYM. With plenty of listings on our site, and a decent amount of search volume, TYM has earned their place on our list. A great sub compact tractor in their range is the T273 tractor, with 27 HP and a range of attachments, these little tractors will handle jobs with surprising ease.
