Australian Department of Defence Seeks New Construction & Material Handling Equipment
The Australian Department of Defence (ADoD) has expressed their intention to replace and upgrade their line of engineering support vehicles, which includes earthmoving, material handling and construction equipment.
On the 11th of April, ADoD submitted information to AusTender requesting:
“Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) earth moving, rock crusher and concrete batching plant and off road material handling vehicles and associated support for use by the Australian Defence Force for deployment in Australia and overseas.”
ADoD has specified a number of engineering platform vehicles that need to be replaced, including:
- Cranes
- Bulldozers
- Excavators
- Front-end loaders
- Graders
- Rock crushers
- Rollers
- Skid-steer loaders
- Telescopic handlers
- Concrete batching plants

These vehicles will be used in overseas and domestic engineering applications, for example:
- Earthworks, route development & maintenance
- Airfield construction & repair
- Port operations, supply & distribution
- Disaster relief
- Amphibious/beach operations
ADoD is seeking the company providing these COTS vehicles to maximise Australian industry involvement while also providing a replacement capability effect for earthmoving and material handling equipment.
The Commonwealth has released initial information on AusTender and will be conducting an industry briefing on Tuesday, 30th of April at the Seasons Botanic Garden Hotel, 348 St Kilda Road, Melbourne, Victoria at 1pm.
Following this, they will be considering requests for one-on-one briefings.
