PACCAR to produce Australia’s First Locally Assembled DAF Trucks

A historical moment in the Australian Trucking and Transport industry, PACCAR Australia has recently rolled of the first locally assembled DAF Truck from their assembly line in Bayswater, Victoria.

Managing director, Andrew Hadjikakou, has officially presented the first locally produced DAF CF85 prime mover to long-term customer and supporter of DAF Trucks Australia, Cahill Transport. The presentation took place at PACCAR Australia’s world-class manufacturing facility located at Bayswater in Victoria, where Mr Hadjikakou proudly handed over the keys to directors of Cahill Transport, Michael and Daniel Cahill.

The class leading CF85 510Hp prime mover is the first Australian produced DAF truck to travel down the production line, scheduled into build slots that have previously been occupied solely by Kenworth trucks for the past 47 years. The decision to locally produce the DAF CF85 will in time allow PACCAR Australia the opportunity to provide DAF customers with higher levels of customisation through local engineering input and greater cost savings through local parts sourcing.

PACCAR Australia remains a viable automotive manufacturer that produces world’s-best trucks, contributing to local and national manufacturing employment opportunities generating direct and indirect employment that extends from our staff, to our suppliers, our dealer network and our customers located throughout Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

PACCAR Australia is committed to providing new investment and manufacturing capabilities in Australia, and this initiative is backed by our parent company which sends a clear message to our dealer network and customer base that DAF Trucks are here to stay.
