Review: 2015 JCB 320T Compact Skid Steer Loader

JCB 320T: The Introduction

The construction industry has seen some dramatic shifts over the course of its rich and well-documented history. Whether it’s due to the demand of the market, product of constant innovation, or waves of brand new environmental laws and guidelines, the industry have witnessed substantial changes (especially during the last few decades) that contributed to the development of the power equipment and other products that we’ve been accustomed to in recent memory. There’s more to it, of course, and although I won’t be digging deeper into that, the featured subject of our today’s review will try to showcase some of today’s latest design and technology for skid steers and compact loaders. Here’s our breakdown of the pros and cons of the new JCB 320T Compact Skid Steer Loader.

JCB 320T: Key Features

Optimum power

JCB’s compact skid steer and track loader surely didn’t compromise power in order to achieve its versatile form. To complement the machine’s light heavyweight frame, the manufacturer’s paired it with a pretty solid and reliable engine that produces a net power of 68.6kW. Furthermore, the 320T also features a variable displacement piston pump hydraulics for faster cycle times and smoother multi-functioning and a quite impressive 1452 kilos operating capacity.

Easy maintenance

More uptime means more production. For starters, JCB’s compact skid steer is fitted with a Kohler KDI T4i motor which features a maintenance-free diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC). In addition, the CB EcoMAX engine doesn’t require a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), which then helps simplify servicing and reduce operating costs. And on top of that, the design of the equipment have been really aimed to conveniently showcase all the serviceable parts and key components for faster checking and maintenance periods.

Durability

One of JCB equipment’s strong feature has always been their robust and well-balanced build, which is methodically achieved through intricate processes and tests that even includes around 110,000 hours of evaluation for their EcoMAX T4i/ Stage 3B engine. Meanwhile, top quality components and advanced manufacturing and assembly processes during the manufacturing of key components provide a more precise and stronger build.

Operator comfort

Starting from the easy access doorway, the 320T’s cab is just plainly remarkable for its spacious and ergonomic design which features a fully adjustable mechanical seat, smooth ventilation, low effort-servo assisted controls, great visibility, compact storage, and relatively new and innovative settings for superior control and maneuverability. I personally like its exterior design as well, which is actually one of the primary things I’ve noticed when I first saw it from the Bindo Rentals website.

Highly efficient

Owing to the skid steer’s Tier 4i EcoMAX engine, the equipment uses up to 9% less fuel than outgoing Tier 3 units, while producing its peak torque at low revs for fuel-efficient matching of the transmission and hydraulics. In addition, the cooling is extremely efficient, with lower-temperature air pulled from the top of the cooling pack and expelled through the sides and rear; this improves overall performance.

JCB 320T: The Verdict

Summing up, the JCB 320T Compact Skid Steer Loader looks really impressive with its innovative build and much improved and highly efficient engine. The energy and fuel-saving components make it a really very solid investment as well. Especially if you factor in the easy to maintain and durable design that’s been one of JCB’s best selling points over the years. With the aforementioned features, JCB 320T immediately comes in as one of the most appealing compact skid steer in the market and should probably even stay longer out there as a practical choice for operators who are in need to add a new dimension or expand their scope of support. Overall, the 320T has all the making of a workhorse that’s truly built for the long haul.
