So, how does Hastings Deering provide such a smooth purchasing journey? Machines4U spoke to Dan Gorman, Site Supervisor from Alzino Earthmoving & Co about their recent purchase of the Cat® 330-XZ excavator to find out.
Alzino Earthmoving & Co x Hastings Deering
Alzino Earthmoving & Co is a family owned and operated earthmoving and quarrying business who have been servicing South-East Queensland for more than 50 years. Their extensive fleet consists of more than 100 pieces of vehicles and heavy machinery.
Caterpillar equipment is at the forefront of their fleet, and has been a consistent choice for the company with the first purchase in 1980. Since then, they’ve continued to expand their fleet with Caterpillar machines.
“Caterpillar machinery has been a staple part of our fleet for years, and the Hastings Deering team is always great to work with,” says Dan.
“The Hastings Deering reps are really knowledgeable and are great to deal with as well. They made the purchase process smooth from start to finish.”

Alzino Earthmoving & Co’s Cat 330 Purchase
The Cat 330 excavator is a medium-sized excavator that operates with exceptional performance and fuel efficiency for an excavator of its class. This machine is equipped with the highest level of technology without compromising on operator comfort or productivity.
Dan says the technology was a big selling point for choosing the Cat 330 excavator, “the technology was a big factor in our choice. We purchased the Trimble Earthworks model and the 3D guidance on them is just awesome.”
“We already have four Cat 330 excavators [in our fleet], so we decided to stick to what we know. They’re a logical size for our business and we’ve put thousands of hours on our other machines so it was time to add an upgrade to the fleet,” says Dan.
Cat 330 Excavator Technology Specifications
The 330 excavator features Cat Grade with 2D, Grade Assist, and Payload as standard right from the factory. This type of technology can boost operator efficiency by up to 45%!
This model also offers:
- Up to 9% more lift capacity and increased bucket size compared to the 330F excavator
- Up to 20% more fuel efficiency thanks to larger hydraulic pumps, an electro-hydraulic system and increased bucket capacity
- Up to 25% lower maintenance costs thanks to fewer maintenance items and synchronised maintenance intervals
“The technology is awesome in the new machines, and we’ve definitely seen an improvement in efficiency with the new 330 excavator,” says Dan.

Alzino Earthmoving & Co sent their new machine straight out to site the same day it arrived. The team took it for a quick lap of their yard before setting it off to their Hedley Park site in Kilcoy.
Since their new Cat 330 excavator joined the fleet Dan and the Alzino team couldn’t be happier with their new machine. “We put the new machine straight to work in the field the same day we received it and we’ve had no teething issues at all. So far so good!” says Dan.
