UNIQUE 3 Wheel Newman WD2 Diesel Tractor ~ Single cylinder Coventry diesel engine ~ Rated 8 Hp ~ Meticulously restored ~ Good working condition (see video) ~ An extremely rare COLLECTORS Tractor ~ Only ever 6 imported into Australia ~ ("The Newman was an orchard tractor fitted with a single furrow plough". ~ "The Newman Garden Tractor is a rare tractor, probably so because few were made in Great Britain by Newman Industries Ltd in Grantham, Lincolnshire, during the short life of its builder. Most were apparently sold in the UK, but a few found their way to Australia." "Three models were produced, the WD2, the AN3 and the AN4/2." ~ "Technical Specifications: 1-cylinder, 4-stroke Coventry Victor diesel engine. Bore 3.543” and stroke 3.937”. Gears: 3 forward and 1 reverse. Output 7.95hp at 1800rpm." "The Newman WD2 Light Row-crop Tractor was first manufactured by Newman Industries at Bristol in 1949. Motive power was provided by a Coventry Victor water-cooled single cylinder diesel engine. The WD 2 was fitted with a single plate dry clutch and transmission was via a conventional three forward and one reverse speed gearbox. Top speed was a little under 9 m.p.h. and independent brakes were fitted. The price of the tractor in standard specification was £330, optional power take-off, belt pulley and hydraulic pulley increased the price to £420.12s.
