High speed screw cutting lathe & mostly unused tooling

Myford Super 7B Lathe. Well cared for Imperial machine with quick-change gearbox; power cross slide; cross slide ’plug’ for use when using cross slide as a boring or milling table; and a Myford oil gun.

Some of the lathe specifications are: fine headstock with hardened tapered spindle; 14 spindle speeds (25-2150 rpm); large tee-slotted boring table and bed gap which allows work to be swung larger than would normally clear; 482mm (19 inches) between centres; 178mm (7 inches) swing over bed; 254mm (10 inches) swing in gap; and 114mm (4½ inches ) swing over boring table.

Pratt Burnerd 4-inch three jaw chuck with set of reversible jaws; standard tool post; and drive plate with peg. Lathe is mounted on raising blocks atop a Myford cabinet stand with drip tray, splash guard, and has a 240v (12v 35w) work lamp with magnetic base. Comes with a Myford Super 7 lathe owner’s manual; Myford quick-change gearbox manual and Ian Bradley’s Myford Series 7 manual.

Included is the timber packing crate used when importing the machine. The lathe appears in excellent condition and was first owned in England by a model engineer. The current owner purchased it from the UK in 2013, has seldom used it, and then lightly. The lathe and its box have been kept in a clean, sealed, dry room.

New motor and headstock drive belts, along with new front headstock felt lubricating wick and cross slide wiper have been fitted recently. A Myford ‘C’ spanner and a peg spanner are included for headstock adjustment. The lathe comes with the following new unused Myford spares: two spindle headstock bearings, special spacing washer, new front headstock felt lubricating wick, and five oil nipples.

There are: a 5-litre container of soluble cutting oil and a 5-litre container of Ultramax 32 oil for the machine’s general lubrication.
