Perfect for small to medium-sized farms, the John Shearer 3.0 metre Pasture Drill is engineered for pasture renovation. Designed to maximize service life and operational efficiency, this drill's robust construction makes it an excellent choice for diverse farming conditions.
The 3.0 metre transport width provides efficient handling, while the drill offers 19 or 23 sowing rows with spacing options of 155mm (6 inches) or 125mm (5 inches). Rear depth wheels enhance the sowing width relative to the transport width, and dual depth wheels ensure consistent flotation. The infinitely adjustable gearbox allows for small incremental changes to sowing rates, which is particularly important when sowing small seeds.
The drill features a wide 450mm loading platform with a handrail and steps for easy access. Its main chassis is built for durability, with large 16mm thick wheel mounts, high flotation tyres, two 12mm front-to-rear frame supports, and three 75mm x 75mm mounting ranks. The lead between ranks is 470mm between ranks 1 and 2, and 425mm between ranks 2 and 3.
Calibration is straightforward with electronic scales for sowing rate adjustments and an in-cab electronic hectaremeter. The John Shearer double disc opener is designed to perform across various soil types and conditions. Its compact and unique design positions the press wheel closer to the sowing boot compared to other openers on the market. The opener features a parallelogram unit with two carriers, enhancing its ability to follow ground contours for uniform seed placement. With 254mm (10 inches) of vertical ground-following capability, the opener ensures precise depth control and effective soil compaction around the seed to support optimal germination.
