Designed for root pruning under kiwifruit vines, and also the roots of shelter trees that grow among the vines.
Root pruning is used for bringing dry matter levels up. This is achieved by cutting and removing roots to reduce the size of the root system, which in turn reduces the carbohydrate demand of the root system., making more available for fruit growth and dry matter accumulation.
Root pruning of shelter trees is beneficial as their roots divert the nutrients and water from crops, hindering the good healthy growth of fruit.
