Compacting expanded polystyrene with a density of: 10g/l to 50g/l (0,62 to 3,12 lbs/ft3)at a ratio of 50 : 1 for boxes
SK120
-Save costs by letting the air out of your EPS waste and decreasing number of waste hauls
-Save space and handling of material in the back room by disposing of the EPS immediately
-Minimize the space you use on equipment – the SK120 can be placed under pallet racket
One of the great benefits of EPS is that the material can be compacted and following sold for recycling, where it is used for different kind of plastic products like picture frames. In stead of an expense you can generate an income on your Waste.
EPS or Styrofoam is used for a wide number of applications such as e.g. insulation and product protection during transportation. EPS is not biodegradable and when not compressed it often ends in landfill where the light, but expansive material creates significant problems.
Different kinds of EPS
EPS comes in many different qualities depending on the application and manufacturer. Density, fire retardants and the shape of the material together determine the solution we will recommend.
Density:
We have seen EPS with a density from 10 grams per litre up to 100 grams per litre. Most types are between 20-35 grams per litre. The density particularly affects the compactor’s capacity per hour and whether a pre-crusher with larger motor as accessory is required.
The shape of the material:
RUNI continues to develop several solutions to meet demands for the different sizes and shapes of EPS material.Through dialogue with our costumers on the flow of the scrap EPS, we are constantly enhancing the possibilities of handling different types of EPS products.
Fire retardants:
Some types of EPS contain different types of fire retardants, particularly in the electronics industry. Fire retardants increase the risk of the material melting during the process. RUNI has developed several screw compactor solutions to remedy this risk.
No added heat:
In contrast to other manufacturers of EPS compactors, RUNI does not add heat to the process. The EPS material creates the required heat itself through friction. RUNI produces some of the most energy-efficient screw compactors on the market.
