- Heavy Duty Meehanite one piece cast machine slant bed for excellent damping properties. Nodular gray cast iron cast and annealed to the exact specifications laid out in the Meehanite process. -Optimum ribbing is determined by FEA to minimize distortion during machine operation.
- Hardened and ground box ways are a standard feature on all Fortune’s VturnII lathes. The box ways are induction hardened to over 55HRC and finely ground. Box slideways have a high dynamic stiffness created through rigid static stiffness and maximum damping built to deliver excellent surface finish and long service life.
- High power & high torque spindle is the Fortune standard. A combination of both heavy-duty roller bearings and angular thrust bearings deliver performance. The roller bearings help absorb the high radial loads during heavy cutting while the angular thrust bearings improve axial loads in drilling and boring.
- Direct-coupled servomotors eliminate backlash. Double-anchored ballscrews are pre-tensioned during machine assembly to improve machining accuracy and minimize the effects of thermal growth.
- Servo operated tool turret is engineered and manufactured by our factory. This 8-station turret allows for extremely fast tool indexing of just 0.15 seconds.
- Forced lubrication is delivered to all slideways and moving components. The lubrication channels are milled into the underside of the carriageway and turret to constantly force oil between the moving members for increased machine life. The lubricant is controlled through a pressured system, should there be any leaks or a pressure drop an alarm will be displayed on the Fanuc CNC Controller.
